Curiosity is the best incentive for travel. India is a special place, its people have a special conception of life that is totally different from anywhere else in the world. It is this difference that compeles people to visit this country.

Now let us look at the important sight seeing places. One of India's problem is that in general travel facilities have not reached the standards of America and Europe.

The scenery of India is splendid as it is varied from the highest mountains in the world Himalayas to the Ganges plain extending from the Deccan Plateau to the lower mountains. One can see the finest beaches in Goa, Kerala, and Orissa. Chennai, one of the biggest cities in India has the second longest beach in the world called "The Marina"

There are many interesting places to visit in India. Let us begin from Northern India and will go down to Southern India. New Delhi capital of India is in center connecting Agra and Jaipur. This "Agra-Delhi-Jaipur" which is known as "Golden Traiangle" draws most number of tourists.   

Every place here has a historic significance to it. Lotus Temple which denotes "One man one religion" is famous in Delhi. Semi-Circular Parliment House, Qutubminar, Famous political leaders "Samadhi" at Raj Bahvan are other important places to be visited in Delhi. World wonder "TAJ MAHAL"-Sign of Love in Agra is an over night journey from Delhi.

On the way to Agra, Fethepur Sikri a deserted city is another historic place. Pink City Jaipur is full of beautiful and ancient palaces. Among those Amber palace and Khajurao with erotic carvings are feast for anyone visiting. If we travel upwards, then comes kashmir a beautiful place with snowy mountains. But with constant dispute over the possession of Kashmir between India and Pakistan, it is better to avoid visiting Kashmir.

Varanasi, Rishikesh and Haridhuwar are the other holy places in this sector with the beautiful hanging "Laxman-jhula" Bridge. In a day, all the three places can be covered.  People with interests to visit museums can opt for Anandh Bhavan-Memorial of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and Teen Murti Bhavan and Gandhi Museum.

Now we are on to the western part of India. The famous city Mumbai previously known as Bombay, Goa and Nasik are important places in this sector. These places are famous for the fascinating citadels and fabulous jain Temples.

Eastern part of India is equally beautiful. Calcutta is the biggest city in the eastern part. From Calcutta an overnight rail journey, commuted by a 50 mile ride on a light mountain railway will bring us to Darjeeling and a short walk will take us to Tiger Hills at 8,600 feet with one of the best views of the himalayas especially for nonclimbers.

From Calcutta a trip can be made if permission is obtained to the Mountain Kingdoms of Sikkim, Bhutan, Nepal,  Assam that has tropical forests, fine wild life sanctuary at Kaziranga and to Cheerapunji, claimed to be the most rainiest spot in the world. Now we have covered three third of India.

In Southern India, famous temples of Tirupati, Madurai, rameswaram will provide a vivid sight into Hinduism. Another Southern State Karnataka is also recognized for its temples such as Belur, Somnathpur and Halebid as they are rich in carvings. Dussarah festival in Mysore city that takes place for 10 days during sep/oct is an important festival.

Another city Hyderabad is rich in pearls and famous for mosques. Golcanda fort biggest fort in India is situated here. Due to political changes certain places might be banned for foreigners. But tourists are welcome everywhere and the curious one even more so.
